25 . NET / about

twenty-five.net is my attempt to capture a little of the beauty of the world. I'm inspired by water, mountains, meadows, and snow, all of which are plentiful near Kent, Washington where I live and work.

My rating of the book is in parentheses.

The Art of Photographing Nature by Martha Hill and Art Wolfe. (5/5)
This book is hands down my favorite photography book. The focus is on seeing and framing a photograph well, not the mechanics. However, each photo includes the aperture size and shutter speed, which is invaluable from a mechanical point of view.

Photography by London, Upton, Stone, Kobre, and Brill (8th Edition) (3.5/5) I definitely enjoyed this book, and it's packed with useful information. However, it includes 10s of pages on film, and in my opinion is not worth the price for the digital photographer.

Nature Photography by John Shaw

Photography Outdoors: A Field Guide for Travel and Adventure Photographers by Mark Gardner and Art Wolfe (3/5) I found this book far less useful than the other Wolfe book listed above. For the mechanical information it contains, I prefer the Shaw book.
